It’s a much missed, long sought after “epic”, yes, The Missing Episodes Podcast is back from the junking pile. This is the first of two episodes looking at the twelve-part Season 3 story, “The Daleks’ Master Plan.”
In part one, Paul and Tim are joined by the brilliant Gav Rymill. Gav, a man of many talents, is well known for his work in Doctor Who related graphic design and for being one of the two men behind the phenomenally successful “Dalek 63:88.” Gav leads the team on a deep dive into the origins of the story, what might have been, what the heck was going on the with casting of companions and reveals, for perhaps the first time, whose nipples feature in DMP.
There’s a veritable Volcano of facts, more to chew on than at The Feast of Steven,
(sp) and despite the long recording session, we hope we avoided The Destruction of Rym-ill.
So welcome, delegates and please enjoy Gav’s wonderful insights into this mostly missing classic.
Gav’s latest book “The Dalek Combat Training Manual” can be found here.
Gav and Jon’s wonderful “Terry Nation Army” videos can be found here.
Jess Jurkovic’s “Dudley Simpson is Doctor Who” can be found here.

Doctor Who: The Missing Episodes Podcast - Episode 7 - The Myth Makers

“Beware of Greeks bearing gifts!” Unless, as it turns out on this occasion, the gift is comedian and sixties Doctor Who stalwart Toby Hadoke, all lovingly gift-wrapped and ready to talk.
It doesn’t take long to become apparent that Toby and the team are cheerleaders for the much neglected “The Myth Makers”. And there's plenty to say on the subject, from it's semi-historical originals to its status as the first full-blooded comedy in the Who ouvre. It's also the first Wiles-Tosh project, where bawdy high comedy and bloodstained tragedy go hand-in-hand. Does such a mix make for a successful Doctor Who story, or is it all too much? If you're unsure, open your mind and let Toby persuade you...
After the team have finished eulogising they put on their Missing Episode hats and turn their attention to the country that once seemed to offer the best hope for Myth Makers and its season 3 brethren: the much debated Sierra Leone. If you've ever been confused by the ongoing and rather twisty narrative of out-of-contract repeats, shelled TV stations and Morecambe & Wise hiding in a derelict cinema, their analysis should set you straight. On top of which, there may well be a rare update-ette from one of the top bods in the Missing Who field!
What's a Grecian urn? Who cares, the Missing Episodes Podcast is free, so what excuse do you have not to listen!
If you’re bored of Paul and Tim, Toby comes in at 2 minutes, 45 seconds.
Missing episodes stuff is discussed at around the 55 minute mark.

Missing episode enthusiasts Paul and Tim think they've hit on a Varga-ood idea: tracking down lost TV signals in outer space… After they've tackled that thorny issue, they set about a more realistic goal: reviewing the Season 3 one-part story Mission to the Unknown.
Mission acts as a trailer for the forthcoming twelve-part epic “The Daleks’ Master Plan” - but does it do its job? Is the Doctor-less experiment successful in its own right? And can Paul and Tim keep track of three characters’ names in a 25 minute piece of television drama?
This time they are joined by Andrew Ireland from the University of Central Lancashire. The driving force behind the wonderful 2019 live action recreation of the story, Andrew brings his deep understanding of Mission to the team's discussion of the story, and adds a host of insights into the virtues of 1960’s TV production methods.
In 2019, Andrew also appeared on our good friend Richard Smith’s “Something Who” podcast and gave fascinating testimony to the production of the UCLAN project. We highly recommend not only revisiting this podcast first, but also Richard’s review of the story which features all manner of Delegatory delights with author Jac Rayner (plus a couple of voices which may sound familiar). Doctor Who: The Missing Episodes Podcast - Episode 5 - Galaxy 4

All is not as it appears and evil can be found where you least expect it! Yes, BBC Enterprises' attitude to missing episodes back in the late 1970's wasn't the most helpful, as this episode’s guest explains.
First off, Paul and Tim review the largely missing Season 3 opener, while they dispute fan lore and ponder what this story is really about…
Then they’re joined by Jan Vincent-Rudzki for a look at the foundation of the Doctor Who Appreciation Society, his involvement with seminal documentary “Whose Doctor Who”, and his subsequent stewardship of just shy of 6 minutes of “Four Hundred Dawns”. Jan also obtained those oh-so-important 8mm snippets of monochrome Who and he provides fascinating insight into those early days of organised fandom and the dawning realisation that much of our beloved show had gone, perhaps forever.
So tune in your Chumbley and join us as we review “Galaxy 4”. It's a Rilly good listen!

Doctor Who: The Missing Episodes Podcast - Episode 4 - The Time Meddler
Wednesday Jun 03, 2020
Wednesday Jun 03, 2020
Join Paul and Tim for some mischievous monkery as they review the last story of season two, “The Time Meddler”.
This episode they’re joined by Doctor Who author and missing episodes researcher Jon Preddle, the driving force behind www.broadwcast.org. After talking about his research in general, Jon provides fascinating and expert insight into the bicycling system used to distribute Doctor Who, the sales process and NZ censorship. We then see the tip of of his research iceberg into that most fruitful of countries for missing episodes, Nigeria, where "The Time Meddler" was found in the 1980s.
We're not a mountain goat, but we prefer podcasting to any day, so pop us on your anachronistic gramophone and give us a listen!
(And besides, we hate climbing.)

When we interviewed Paul Scoones about the recovery of ‘The Lion’ for episode 3, we didn’t want to pass up the opportunity to ask him about his other contributions to the worlds of Doctor Who.
So here’s our full and wide-ranging discussion, covering Paul’s work on the DVD and Bluray ranges, 'The Comic Strip Companions', his unofficial novelisations of Resurrection of the Daleks and Shada (hens’ teeth!) and more!
There’s also around 15 minutes extra discussion around the recovery of ‘The Lion’.
Join us for this very special episode: Paul and Tim were grinning from ear to ear as the tale was told and we’re sure you will too!

Doctor Who: The Missing Episodes Podcast - Episode 3 - The Crusade
Friday May 22, 2020
Friday May 22, 2020
Ever wondered what you’d do if you found a missing episode of Doctor Who? After Paul and Tim review the season two story 'The Crusade', Paul Scoones joins them to recount 'The Lion’s Tale'. Paul was one of the dedicated New Zealand superfans who helped recover episode one of the story in 1999. Paul (aided by wonderful written testimony from his good friend Neil Lambess) recounts this compelling tale of great good fortune, chewed nails, BBC bureaucracy and those that helped along the way.
Join us for this very special episode: Paul and Tim were grinning from ear to ear as the tale was told and we’re sure you will too!
The full 90 minute interview will imminently be released as a bonus; in it we discuss Paul’s extensive involvement in many official and unofficial Doctor Who projects, with added Lion content!
Paul Scoones can be found on Twitter @paul_scoones, and the NZDWFC web pages, including his written account of “The Lion’s Tale” can be found here.
(For those bored of Paul and Tim, Paul Scoones joins the conversation at 33 minutes. For those bored of confectionary-based humour, that stops at the first three hours. Sorry, minutes)

Doctor Who: The Missing Episodes Podcast - Episode 2 - The Reign of Terror
Saturday Apr 25, 2020
Saturday Apr 25, 2020
The Missing Episodes Podcast is back, for more Doctor Who lacunae! This time Paul and Tim examine The Reign of Terror: an important story in the evolution of the Who Historical, with its funny bits and less didactic tone - but is it any good? It's certainly incomplete, and Greg Bakun from Kaleidoscope and From the Archive joins in to discuss the animation of the two missing episodes. Greg gives great insight into the animation process and talks about what might have been! There's also as thorough a probing of overseas sales, mysterious private collectors and dusty foreign archives as anyone could want! Come join our secret rendezvous at the Chien Gris (*NB possibly the Sinking Ship) for all this, plus bonus references to horse droppings, Tony Hart and CGI cat bottoms.
Greg's blog can be found at www.from-the-archive.co.uk
For those bored of Paul and Tim, Greg joins the conversation at 37 minutes and the Missing Episodes talk of dusty archives and private collectors starts at 1 hour, 18 minutes.

Doctor Who: The Missing Episodes Podcast - Episode 1 - Marco Polo
Friday Apr 10, 2020
Friday Apr 10, 2020
"Missing Episode podcasts. People like them, so let's make some more of them."
Join Paul and Tim, otherwise known as Doctor Who and the Podcasters, as they start their alternative history of Doctor Who: those 97 tantalising gaps. They explore how these stories came about, what we're missing, and what the chances are we'll ever see them again. In this first episode they focus on Marco Polo, a pivotal moment in the development of the show and a rattling good yarn in itself.
(Don't mention 2013. I did it once, but I think I got away with it.)
If you enjoy this podcast, as a fledgling enterprise, we’d really appreciate it if you share it on your social media and help us find our audience.
This free podcast borrowed some snippets of music: “Space Adventure Part 2” – Martin Slavin, “Three Ancient Melodies” – Louis Chen, “Wouldn’t it be nice” - The Beach Boys, “Marche, Les Structures Sonores” – Lasry Baschet.
